About Cartesian Capital Group, LLC

In November 2005, Peter Yu and four of the five members of the senior management team of AIG Capital Partners, Inc. ("AIGCP") founded Cartesian Capital Group, LLC.

Prior to forming Cartesian, we founded and built AIGCP into a leading emerging markets private equity investment firm, managing more than $5 billion for leading institutions. Over ten years, we developed an extensive record of successful investing in the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Our objective at Cartesian is straightforward: to fund and help develop promising businesses in developed and emerging markets and to generate superior risk-adjusted returns through the consistent execution of a proven and opportunistic global investment discipline and high value-add.

Rene Descartes (1596-1650) is noted not only for his contributions to mathematics, but equally for his philosophy. Descartes (also known as Cartesius) is often considered the first modern philosopher, in part due to his work regarding analytic skepticism.

His Cartesian Coordinate System has been used over the centuries to describe the geography of the world.

We view Descartes' combination of analytical rigor and skepticism as a useful model for investing in private equity.
